June Monthly Recap

Hello, friend of liberty! June has been an eventful month for us, with LOLA attending the LevelUp conference in Arizona, our Instagram hitting 10,000 followers, and the launch of our first podcast. Find all the details below.

We’re thrilled to announce that LOLA has released its first podcast, Miss Libertarian!  The podcast will be hosted by Lady of Liberty, Jess Gill, where she plans to chat with a range of liberty-minded individuals in an effort to educate new audiences on the ideas of liberty.

In the first episode of Miss Libertarian, Jess Gill and Estela Martinez discuss the impact LGBTQ activism has had on liberty, with conversations from “Go Woke, Go Broke” with Dylan Mulvaney and Bud Light to how countries are pushing a political agenda by politicizing being LGBTQ.

You can watch the first episode on our YouTube channel and be sure to subscribe!

We officially hit 10,000 followers on Instagram this June! LOLA’s Instagram works to educate and empower women in the liberty movement and make sure that libertarian ideas reach new women.

We want to give a special shoutout to our social media team members Jess Gill and Estela Martinez for their hard work, dedication, and skills that have helped us have one of the highest engagement levels in the liberty movement.

From June 21-24th LOLA attended LevelUp along with 20 other LOLA Leaders who flew in for the event across the globe. The conference was hosted by the Objective Standard Institute where they hosted professional and leadership training, and allowed us to make new connections, all while emerging us in classical liberal ideas.  We even maxed out all our sign-up sheets at the LOLA Booth with new women excited to start chapters and join our efforts. We even had a generous donor who came to the LOLA Booth that so impressed with our work that they donated on the spot! During the event, LOLA also hosted same-day media training for LOLA Leaders where they got on-camera experience on talking about the ideas of liberty.

A warm shoutout to Objective Standard Institute for hosting us and organizing such a great event!

LOLA SOUTH FLORIDA, FL

TASTE OF FREEDOM

The LOLA South Florida Chapter consists of members from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. To honor this diversity, the chapter arranged a gathering at a nearby farmers’ market where attendees could try different foods from around the globe. The event intended to promote the multicultural values of the group, and encourage members to form friendships and initiate conversations about the significance of liberty. Some members who relocated to the U.S. shared personal anecdotes about their families’ migration.

The main goal of LOLA South Florida is to establish an authentic community and a secure environment for women from all backgrounds to engage in the ideas of liberty.

LOLA MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY

COFFEE BREAK WITH LOLA

LOLA Uruguay recently held an informal coffee gathering to discuss the current political situation in the country and explore potential liberal solutions to concerns. The chapter strives to prioritize monthly meetups for new members to keep them informed and engaged.

LOLA PERNAMBUCO, BRAZIL

LIBERTYCON 2023

The Pernambuco chapter of LOLA recently participated in LibertyCon Europe held in Lisbon, Portugal. During the event, the chapter collaborated with several other critical liberal groups, including IFLRECIFE, Students For Liberty Brazil, and Frei Caneca, a historical group dedicated to educating and promoting liberalism. The chapter also formed partnerships with university professors and educational institutions, such as Mises Brasil, which were present at the event.

One of the essential objectives of the chapter is to expand the presence of LOLA in northwest Brazil, where the knowledge and awareness of liberal political philosophy and values are limited. As a result, the Pernambuco chapter aims to serve as a central regional hub for future chapters.

LOLA MENDOZA, ARGENTINA

EATING DISORDERS AND HOW IT AFFECTS WOMEN

In Argentina, anorexia and bulimia are prevalent and can have severe health consequences. In an effort to assist women who are struggling with these eating disorders, LOLA Mendoza conducted a discussion on the subject. The members, many of whom have experienced eating disorders firsthand, shared their personal experiences and recommended methods to provide support. Sofia Karsovnik, an accomplished psychology student and LOLA representative, elaborated on the correlation between mental health and eating disorders.

LOLA Mendoza continues to concentrate on how they can help women in their city grow and prosper individually without being reliant on their government.

LOLA CÓRDOBA, ARGENTINA

DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS OF SDG OBJECTIVES

The United Nations created the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to promote peace and prosperity for people and the planet. Recently, LOLA Cordoba organized a meetup to discuss Argentina’s adoption of SDG and its impact so far. Unfortunately, the country hasn’t seen much success in reducing poverty through the SDG’s subsidy approach. The chapter held a separate event focusing on the education and public health aspects of the plan.

LOLA Cordoba aims to raise awareness of the implementation of SDG in Argentina and the adverse effects it may have on individual rights. The SDG is a global agenda, and it’s crucial to ensure that its implementation aligns with the respect for individual rights.

LOLA AMU, INDIA

MOTHERS AND THEIR QUEST FOR LIBERTY

LOLA AMU hosted an event for mothers to share their experiences and challenges related to motherhood. The event covered various topics, including gender roles and expectations, economic empowerment, education, social support systems, cultural norms and attitudes, social movements, and activism.

The primary objective of the event was to provide a space for mothers to share their struggles, sacrifices, and successes in their journey toward achieving freedom.

LOLA DISTRITO FEDERAL, BRAZIL

NOVO PARTY YOUTH GATHERING

LOLA Distrito Federal attended a gathering to introduce attendees to LOLA and to discuss the importance of women’s participation in the political debate in Brazil. The main topic of discussion was the defense of freedom of expression, which was particularly relevant as the Chamber of Deputies was simultaneously attempting to pass a bill regulating social media content. Deputy Paula Belmonte spoke about the political challenges she faced in defending freedom of expression within the party structure. Members of the Novo Party, which advocates for a free market, also presented their ideas for working towards a free country.

This event was significant because it occurred at the same time as the attempt by politicians to regulate social media, which was ultimately unsuccessful due to the mobilization of social groups who supported freedom of expression.

LOLA MEDELLÍN, COLOMBIA

INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF LIBERAL YOUTH GATHERING

The purpose of this event was to connect with Liberals and Classical Liberals from different parts of the world, namely Europe, America, Africa, and Latin America. As a result, 30 new women showed interest in collaborating with LOLA and its work.

Various topics were discussed, such as the emergence of authoritarian governments in Latin America, public safety, security, and the significance of limited government. Participants also shared their ideas on how to resolve the significant challenges currently faced by Colombia.

LOLA BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA

EUROPEAN UNION AS AN INSPIRATION FOR LATIN AMERICA

LOLA Bogota organized an event where leaders from LOLA and Europe came together to discuss public policies for Latin America. The primary focus was on utilizing European free-market strategies to stimulate economic growth in the region. The discussion topics included free markets, borders, and visa access in Latin America.
