Watch Holly Jean Soto’s Speech From the Libertarian Party Convention Of Florida

It’s no secret that the popularity of socialism is on the rise with young people, with a whopping 55% of women in the U.S. saying they prefer socialism to capitalism. Holly Jean Soto, LOLA’s Director of Operations, spoke at this year’s Libertarian Party Convention of Florida where she shared her ideas on how to attract women to the philosophy of libertarianism. LOLA is growing!

Not only is LOLA growing our reach with new chapters, we’re growing internally as well. Our former social media strategist, Jess Gill, has now stepped up full-time as LOLAs Communications and Social Media Manager where she will be tying both of these worlds together and lead our social media efforts. We are excited to further expand our social media presence, which is already one of the highest in the liberty movement.

In addition, we have added Jennifer Monroe to our team, a libertarian blogger and podcaster in the U.S., as LOLAs new email marketing specialist and she will be helping produce LOLAs new website

 

LOLA POLAND

European Leadership Retreat

With LOLA’s fast growth in Europe, LOLA hosted its first ever European retreat in Falenty, a village outside of Warsaw. We’re thrilled to report that the event was a resounding success! We had the pleasure of hosting various speakers and engaging discussions on a wide range of topics, including effective strategies for promoting libertarian ideas and practical insights into the world of journalism and media presentation.. LOLA SPAIN

NETS FOR CHANGE

LOLA Spain hosted their inaugural event, redes para el cambio (nets for change), in the political and economic hub of Madrid. The featured speaker was Roxana Nicula, president of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for the Advancement of Liberty (Fundalib) and a Spanish libertarian leader of Romanian origin.The event aimed to introduce the chapter to the public and create a welcoming space where local women and activists could come together, support each other, and feel empowered. Along with outlining the goals and vision of the chapter, the event featured a women’s empowerment activity designed to inspire and uplift participants.

Madrid is dealing with the difficulties caused by high taxes, which have negative effects on both businesses and individuals. Join us in supporting one of our newest chapters in their fight for liberty.


LOLA GUATEMALA

PARTNERSHIP WITH PROYECTO B’ATZ

LOLA Guatemala is now in an alliance with Proyecto B’atz’, a Guatemalan NGO that provides workshops and conferences on preventive psychology aimed at young people. The goal of LOLA Guatemala is to partner with organizations that help women and young people, with an eye towards working on projects that recognize new ways to identify what Guatemalan women need.


RESPONSIBILITY WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN

The children of Q’axal live near the garbage dump in zone 3 of Guatemala City, an area of extreme poverty and a strong presence of organized crime. In an effort to educate these children about the concepts of self-governance and personal responsibility, LOLA Guatemala organized a learning workshop. The workshop featured speakers Paulina Madriz and Nasrin Alloud, who focused on teaching the children the importance of managing their emotions and responding appropriately to various situations in their lives. The children also learned about the origin of money and the role of banks through an engaging children’s story


LOLA CORDOBA, ARGENTINA

TEAM MEET AND GREET

LOLA Argentina hosted a social event to introduce its newest members to the chapter and to discuss future agenda items. A didactic activity was carried out for chapter members to get to know each other, discuss what each one expects from the organization. The event also closed with a survey of controversial issues of liberalism such as abortion, free carrying of weapons, and drug legalization.


LOLA ARGENTINA

MENTAL HEALTH AND SOCIAL MEDIA

The impact of social media usage on users, especially women, and whether social media should be regulated has been at the forefront of discussion. Keeping in mind that social networks have a great effect on women’s self-esteem, since we use them as a mirror of “models to become”, LOLA Argentina found it interesting to talk about this from the liberal point of view.

Participants, including specialists in social networks and the media, discussed the effect of social networks on us and especially on our mental health, self-esteem, level of productivity, and other related topics. Out of this discussion came the great idea of ​​creating a podcast or digital radio program to address the issue of the effects of social networks, how to learn to use them in a more productive way and not feel overwhelmed.


LOLA NEPAL

BOOK DISCUSSION WITH TIKA DHAKAL

LOLA Nepal hosted a book discussion on The Narrow Corridor: How Nations Struggle For Liberty at Madan Bhandari Memorial College featuring guest speaker Tika Dhakal, advisor to Nepal’s former president Bidhya Devi Bhandari and a political scientist. The discussion centered on the equilibrium between the state and society while touching on the topic of women’s participation in policy development. The talk drew a diverse audience of over 60 individuals, including students and faculty members from across the college.


LOLA SOUTH FLORIDA

CHAPTER LAUNCH PARTY

One of the newest LOLA chapters, South Florida, celebrated their launch by hosting an event in Wynwood, Miami. The focus was on creating a safe space for women interested in the liberty movement to meet and network. Some of the members shared their experience with socialism & communism, while others spoke about how and when they realized they were being played by the leftist feminist movement. This event made a significant impact as numerous attending members expressed the joy of being in the company of like-minded women, fostering an atmosphere of empowerment and acceptance.

We at LOLA are so excited to welcome our South Florida chapter and, as Chapter Leader Shannon Plunkett shares, “in the liberty movement and at LOLA our voices will be heard when we speak out together!”


LOLA BOLIVIA

¿Qué es LOLA?

In Bolivia, there are very few liberal organizations and the majority are comprised of men. To change this, LOLA Bolivia put together an event, ¿Qué es LOLA?, to introduce who and what LOLA is, what our mission and vision are, and to share news of upcoming events. Overall it was a rousing success, with 100% of the women who attended expressing a desire to join LOLA!


LOLA AMU, India

RAISING AWARENESS OF WOMENS’ RIGHTS

The topic of women’s legal rights holds utmost importance in India, and increasing awareness about these issues can play a crucial role in addressing gender-based violence and social inequalities prevalent in Indian society. LOLA AMU organized an introductory event focusing on women’s rights, aiming to enhance awareness and understanding of the legal reforms and policies that exist to protect women in the event of rights violations. During the event LOLA members shared what are women’s rights in the Indian Constitution which includes right to education, right to own property, right to equality, equal opportunity for all, prohibition from discrimination, right to maternity benefits, right against child marriage, right against dowry, and other issues.


LOLA CHILE

DISCUSSION ON CAPITALISM & FREE MARKETS

As in much of South America, Chile is a country that has faced decades of political turbulence, social, and economic uncertainty. LOLA Chile hosted Rainer Zitelmann, author of In Defense Of Capitalism, along with Regional Councilor Marcela Zbinden and journalist Magdalena Merbilha for a discussion on capitalism and free markets, women in media and politics, and various other topics. Women from across the country came to Santiago to attend the talk and share their experiences. With more women joining the liberty movement in Chile, the chapter is dedicated to growing its membership and is doing so with every event.


LOLA URUGUAY

YOUNG WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP

The Development Program for Women Leaders, a postgraduate program carried out at ORT University, invited President of LOLA Uruguay, Sabrina Riveiro, to give a class for young women interested in assuming leadership roles. The group, which was composed of executives and entrepreneurs over the age of 30, discussed fundamental concepts of feminism, freedom, development and women empowerment. In addition, Sabrina shared her life experience in the leadership roles she has held in her early life.

In Uruguay, many women do not consider themselves as feminists because left-wing movements that have taken over the narrative of feminism. Unfortunately, these left-wing movements have forced many women on the opposite side of feminism. LOLA Uruguay is fighting back against radical feminism and teaching women that true feminism is rooted in libertarian principles, and make them understand that true feminism is based on individual freedom.


LOLA UBERLANDIA, BRAZIL

HEALTHY MOTHERS

In the stress of daily life, we often forget to look after our physical health. With that in mind, LOLA Uberlandia hosted personal trainer, Lucas de Deus, to teach the positive effect that a healthy workout routine can have on their daily career and stress levels. Stretching, joint flexibility and exercises meant to relieve muscle tension were taught, with an emphasis on creating time for physical activity on a daily basis.
