LILA Uruguay held their first face-to-face meeting since the pandemic. We thank all those who joined and those who could not be with us but who always give us their support. We are proud that the group continues to grow, more and more women are advocating for a free society!

Libertarian Feminism: Women’s Panel

Red Alas hosted a online meeting on the importance of generating spaces for libertarian women in Argentina. LOLA members participated in the virtual meeting as they discussed their individual work in spreading libertarian ideology, exchanged experiences in the movement and proposed ideas for the future. They had a great turnout of women passionate about liberty.

Rape and Its Psychological Underpinnings

LOLA Africa lends its voice to the rape culture in Nigeria. Lady of Liberty Temitope Afegbah explained the etymology and psychology of rape, the effects of rape on victims, current happenings in Nigeria, and more with host and LOLA Chapter Leader, Abisola Olaiya. Temitope holds her first and second degree in Psychology from the University of Lagos and is currently a lecturer of Psychology and is a member of LOLA Nigeria. Watch the webinar here!.

Chat with District Deputy, Julia Lucy

LOLA Brazil hosted a discussion with Julia Lucy, District Deputy, Political Scientist at UNB, and founder of Startup LigaDelas, which seeks to encourage entrepreneurship and female leadership in all areas. She spoke on her organization’s work on economic development, the reduction of the size of the State, and its intervention in the economy, in addition to the generation of employment and income, ethics in politics, the supervision of public spending, and the promotion of women and so-called early childhood.

LOLA Paraná: Gender Quotas in Politics

In Curitiba, Councilwoman Maria Leticia initiated a petition to collect signatures for the Popular Initiative Bill that proposes that 50% of the councilmen’s seats in the municipality be composed of women. LOLA Paraná hosted an event to discuss the impacts of the project with the electoral law professor Eneida Desiree, who stands in favor of this initiative, and with the leader of LOLA and Livres Amália Tortato, who disagrees with the initiative. Female participation in politics is one of LOLA’s strongest agendas and we invite you to understand the impacts of this project from a liberal perspective!

Post-Coronavirus Economy

Among the uncertainties faced in the time of the Covid-19 pandemic is the post-coronavirus economy. To discuss the issue, LOLA Brazil invited Fernanda Mansano to a meeting. Fernanda is a leader of LOLA, economist at the State University of Maringá, specialist in Financial Market and creator of the course Economy for Investors.

LOLAs in Quito hosted an Internal Workshop where they learned how to work as a team to find solutions and the different methods of conflict resolution available to achieve our goals.

The global crisis of Covid-19 put the labor market in check. During this difficult time, Romina Rodriguez and Sabrina Riveiro hosted a webinar with tips on how to put together a good resume and online profile to apply for new opportunities.

SASFL & LOLA Online Colloquium: The Tragedy of Collective Ownership

The event was the first online colloquia on environmental challenges and tragedy faced by collective ownership. Participants discussed why individual freedom is important and why private property in a decentralized arena would further help when it comes to saving the environment. Raufa Shaikh – LOLA Mumbai Chapter Leader and Tanmay Mehra – Regional Coordinator – North India led the discussion.

July marks 11 years since LOLA first launched!LOLA has come a long way since 2009. While we once began as a passion project, today LOLA has grown to 21 countries with over 55 Chapters reaching over 1500 women. Celebrate with us this month on Instagram using #LOLAHBD.

History of LOLA:
2009

A group of women concerned about the shortage of female leaders in the fight for liberty started a group to address the problem and called themselves the Ladies of Liberty Alliance (LOLA).
2011

The overwhelming demand for LOLA from women around the country drove the decision to, under the direction of Nena Whitfield, officially establish Ladies of Liberty Alliance as a full-time, non-profit educational organization with the mission of educating and empowering female leaders within the liberty movement.

2017

In 2017 we received an explosion of requests from women across the world asking how they can bring LOLA to their country…LOLA Social Chapters had grown from just 2 to 17 countries.

2020

Today LOLA is in 21 countries, with 55+ Chapters reaching over 1500 women new and familiar to the liberty movement.

Chapter Leaders Sabrina, Valentina, and Florencia are using their Chapter to make the liberal approach to feminism known, and speak about policy debates from a women’s perspective.
