1. Deirdre McCloskey, Antonella Marty, and Grover Norquist join the LOLA Advisory Board

The Ladies of Liberty Alliance is thrilled to welcome three outstanding professionals to our Board of Advisors this year – Deirdre Nansen McCloskey, Antonella Marty, and Grover Norquist. LOLA’s board offers support, guidance, and contributes to our goal of addressing the shortage of women in the liberty movement. Together with board members we will continue to expand LOLA Chapters, our network, and grow as a leading libertarian organization for women. Welcome, Deirdre, Antonella, and Gover. We are honored to have you.

2. LOLA Reaches 28 Countries

This year we’ve seen new LOLA Chapters in locations such as West Michigan, Brazil, Guatemala, Central NY, Venezuela, Mexico and more. LOLA Chapters continue to spread the ideas of liberty and address the shortage of women in the liberty movement. Chapters grew 492% (13 to 77) since the initial launch of the Chapters Outreach program in 2018 and grew 24% (62 to 77) from the year before.

5. New Team Members & Roles

This year, we welcomed Izabela Patriota as LOLA’s Director of Development. Izabela is a member of the leadership team of LOLA Brazil and is a Ph.D. Candidate in law, and a Frédéric Bastiat Fellow with the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. Welcome to the team Izabela!

Marina Zonis has joined the LOLA Team as the new Social Media Coordinator. Marina is a Business Lawyer in Brazil and has been involved with LOLA since 2019. She serves as the Social Media Lead and Director of Communications of LOLA Brazil. She is passionate about limited government, libertarian feminism, women’s rights, and Japanese food.

Ayemen Fatima expands her role with LOLA from the International Chapters Coordinator to the new Global Chapters Coordinator. Ayemen is pursuing her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in Hyderabad, India. She currently serves as the first female Chair of the Executive Board at South Asia Students for Liberty where she initially found her love for liberty. She is passionate about human rights, religion, free markets, and is an advocate for drug law reform. 

6. LOLA turns 12

12 years ago, the Ladies of Liberty Alliance began as a passion project designed to address the shortage of women in the liberty movement with a handful of volunteers building a network of libertarian women. With the launch of LOLA’s Outreach Program in 2018, LOLA saw an explosion from 2 to 12 countries. Today LOLA exists in 27 countries, with over 70 Chapters reaching over 2,500 women.  We are so thankful to bring more women into the liberty movement and address the shortage of women in the liberty movement. The last 12 years have been exciting, fulfilling, and rewarding, and we’re just getting started.
