Jean Card has a proven track record of translating public policy jargon and government-speak into compelling, persuasive English. She spent six years in the executive branch of the U.S. government as a speechwriter for the Secretaries of Treasury and Labor as well as the Attorney General. Jean also has a broad background in media relations, serving four years as the Vice President of Media and Communications for the nation’s largest small-business advocacy group, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). In that role, Jean was NFIB’s lead spokesperson and oversaw a team of media-relations professionals handling both state and national media relations. Jean’s messaging experience ranges from issues including economic and tax policy to healthcare, with a specialty in matters pertaining to small business. Her familiarity with both state and federal public policy and government sets her apart in the landscape of Washington, D.C. communicators. Today, Jean is a public relations consultant specializing in writing, coaching (for both writing and public speaking) and media strategy.
