The Second Annual LOLA Latin America Leadership Retreat was held in Montevideo, Uruguay from April 5th-8th, 2024. It was attended by more than 50 LOLA Chapter leaders from the Latin America region.
With over 31 chapters in the region, LOLA Latin America is one of the the fastest growing regions of LOLA. This retreat provided an opportunity for the leaders to get to know each other, learn new skills which they can apply to their chapters, share their stories of liberty and have a great time together.

Headshots And Official Photo
The retreat Day 1 started with the ladies having their headshots and group shots taken in the Retreat Hotel. And, of course, the ladies took the opportunity to take plenty of their own pictures as well.
Having professional headshots taken is an important component of a strong, professional online presence. LOLA loves offering retreat attendees a chance to have a few taken.</span
¿Por qué la libertad?
On the first day of the retreat the chapter leaders gathered over pizza and wine to discuss about liberty & freedom. Each participant had 2 minutes to introduce themselves. The discussion was headed by LOLA’s President, Nena Whitfield who shared with shared the history of how LOLA has become a global organization inspiring women worldwide to advocate for liberty.

Welcome Address– Holly Jean Soto, Director of Operations, LOLA & Sabrina Riveiro, Regional Leader, LOLA Latin America
LOLA’s Director of Operations, Holly Jean Soto and LOLA Latin America Regional Leader, Sabrina Riveiro welcomed the attendees of the retreat. Holly & Sabrina individually spoke about LOLA, its mission and vision, the Latin America region and its growth & development in the previous and the current year.
Mujer y Poder– Beatriz Argimón, Vice President, Uruguay
After the welcome address by Holly & Sabrina, Sabrina welcomed Beatriz Argimón, the vice president of Uruguay to address the leaders. Beatriz gave an inspiring talk on Women and Power during Day 1 of the LOLA Latin America Retreat 2024.
Project Management y Desarrollo– Alyssa DiPadova, Institute Relations Manager, Atlas Network
Alyssa DiPadova, Institute Relations Manager at Atlas Network was one of the speakers at the LOLA Latin America Retreat 2024. She gave a workshop for leaders on how to lead effective and measurable projects for their chapters to maximise impact and reach new audiences.
Libertad: De la teoría a la práctica– Sabrina Riveiro, Regional Leader, LOLA Latin America
Latin America Regional Leader, Sabrina Riveiro trained leaders on how to effectively communicate libertarian ideas in order to reach new audiences.
Ciencia y Mercado– Serrana Pérez & Camila Tub, CEOs, Biolube
Biolube CEOs, Serrana Pérez and Camila Tub gave Entrepreneurship training to our retreat attendees where they talked about entrepreneurship and how to break barriers for innovative products for women. They discussed how to pursue the laboratories and big companies to not just invest in their product, but also change the culture in Uruguay in their research on ” taboo” topics such as women and their sexuality and hygiene.
Activismo por la libertad– Estela Martínez, Project Manager, LOLA Activism Fellowship & Nathaly Mérida, Project Coordinator, LOLA Activism Fellowship
Estela Martinez, Project Manager of the LOLA Activism Fellowship and Nathaly Mérida, Project Coordinator of the LOLA Activism Fellowship trained the girls on effective activism in Latin America and helpful tips and practices to become a better activist.

On Saturday night, LOLA hosted its annual Happy Hour which allowed all retreat participants to network, grab drinks, and most of all have fun.

Media y Comunicación– Tatiana Cortazzo, Television Presenter & Producer
Day 3 of the retreat started with the talk of Tatiana Cortazzo, Television Presenter and Producer where she trained leaders on how to talk to the media including helpful tips on how to dress, how to talk, how to stand in front of the camera, and put LOLAs to practice their skills in a live interview.
Economía para Todas– Laura Raffo, Economist, Businesswoman & Pre- candidate for Presidency
Laura Raffo, Economist, Businesswoman and Pre-candidate for the Presidency talked on her journey to Presidency, the economic state of Uruguay and encouraged leaders in their fight for liberty.
Camino al Desarrollo– Izabela Patriota, Director of Development, LOLA
Izabela Patriota, Director of Development for LOLA, trained the girls on development including how to talk to donors, how to pitch, how to best represent your issues and how to grow your efforts for liberty.

Each leader had 60 seconds to showcase their skills and deliver the best pitch for LOLA!

Anne Dias, LOLA Chapter Program Lead and Stacy Gonzalez, LOLA Social Media Strategist give a session on how to be an excellent leader. They discussed LOLAs Chapter programs and how to improve them by leadership and media as a tool for engagement in LOLA.

Headed by Anne Dias, LOLA Chapter Program Lead and Sabrina Riveiro, LOLA Latin America Regional Leader, in this session the retreat attendees broke up into groups of 10 to create an agenda to mitigate the challenges faced by women in their region as well as to identify opportunities in their region that can help pull more women into the ideas of liberty.
