The María Oropeza Activism Fellowship is empowering a new generation of liberty activists, and November has been a remarkable month for the program. As Fellows completed their first high-impact training module, they made impressive strides in their activism journeys. Fellows are already reaching tens of thousands and achieving milestones amplifying their influence.
Transformative Training and Development
The Fellowship’s training modules are designed to equip Fellows with the practical skills needed to drive impactful activism. This month’s focus was on the Strategic Activism Training module, which covered topics such as strategic planning, goal-setting, volunteer recruitment, political strategy, and alliance-building.
Personalized tutoring and mentorship played a vital role in the Fellows’ growth, with over 61 one-on-one tutoring sessions and 12 mentorship sessions providing tailored guidance, emotional support, and access to 49 new resources and opportunities.
Community Building and Peer Support
Collaboration and peer support are integral to the Fellowship’s success. This month, the Co-Creation Space provided a platform for Fellows to present their projects, receive constructive feedback, and share resources. The first session boasted a 100% attendance rate, highlighting the Fellows’ commitment to collective learning and improvement.
Meanwhile, the Reading Club continued to foster a deeper understanding of liberty principles. Two sessions were held this month, during which Fellows explored foundational texts and engaged in discussions that inspired participants to share these ideas more widely, reaching an audience of over 10,000 people.
Media and Outreach Achievements
Media engagement is a cornerstone of the Fellowship, and November was no exception. Fellows published five articles addressing critical issues related to liberty and individual rights. These pieces and other media appearances contributed to 14 media mentions, collectively reaching an audience of over 91,000 people.
Fellows have effectively brought liberty- centered discussions to the forefront of public discourse by amplifying their voices through various media platforms.
Activism Milestones and Partnerships
The Fellows’ activism efforts extended beyond the classroom and into their communities. This month, they led or participated in over 20 initiatives, from political campaigns to grassroots organizing. These activities not only increased their visibility but also allowed them to build meaningful connections within their local contexts.
In addition to their activism, Fellows celebrated 11 notable accomplishments, including securing scholarships, internships, and admissions to prestigious programs. Two Fellows successfully established new partnerships—one with a prominent political figure and another with a resource-donating organization.
The Fellowship also strengthened its network of strategic partners. Young Americans for Liberty (YAL), Leadership Institute, and Objective Standard Institute (OSI) have committed to supporting the program over the next six months by providing additional speakers, mentors, and training opportunities.
Expanding LOLA’s Reach
Fellows were active participants in both LOLA and non-LOLA events, hosting three LOLA Chapter events and contributing to 17 other activism efforts. These included political campaigns, petitions, policy briefings, and community outreach activities. Through these events, Fellows not only expanded LOLA’s presence but also demonstrated their capacity to lead and inspire others in the fight for liberty.
