Nena Whitfield – President
Nena Bartlett Whitfield is from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and moved to Washington, DC, upon completing her Master’s program in Diplomacy from Norwich University in Vermont in 2007. She has worked at the Cato Institute and has been involved with a number of political campaigns, most recently as assistant campaign manager for then-junior Senator Rand Paul. After the 2010 elections, Nena joined Sen. Paul in his Washington, DC, office as a Legislative Aide on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee. In 2013, Nena left Capitol Hill to work with the Ladies of Liberty Alliance as their first full-time Executive Director. Nena is active in her community as a founding member and former Treasurer of the DC Liberty Toastmasters, Chair of the Republican Liberty Caucus of DC, and the former Vice President and Treasurer of the Norwich Alumni DC Chapter.
Holly Jean Soto – Director of Operations
Holly Jean, a native of New York, was first introduced to libertarian and free market ideas as a teenager while taking her first Economics class at Valencia College. She developed a keen interest in economics and liberty, which led her to pursue an Economics degree at George Mason University. During her studies, she worked for organizations that advocated for freedom, such as the Mercatus Center and Institute for Humane Studies. After graduating, she discovered the Ladies of Liberty Alliance and was captivated by its mission. Holly dedicated herself to supporting libertarian women all over the world.
Estela Martínez – Social Media Strategist
Residing in Guatemala, Estela is a dual-degree student in Global Affairs and Political Science. She’s the founder of LOLA Guatemala, which focuses on empowering women through liberty and offering private solutions to social problems. Additionally, she’s the founder of “Oleada Feminista,” a dynamic group of 150 volunteers engaged in activism and community projects. Estela is a recognized anti-corruption activist. Introduced through Young Americans for Liberty, she’s been with LOLA for over 3 years and currently works as LOLA’s Social Media Strategist.
Jess Gill – Social Media and Communications Manager
Jess is the social media and communications manager of LOLA and currently lives in Manchester, England. She has been with LOLA for a year. In addition to working full-time with LOLA, Jess is a Hazlitt Fellow with FEE and an apprentice for the Mises Institute. She is also regularly in the media or writing for various publications.
Izabela Patriota – Director of Development
Izabela is a lawyer from Brazil who moved to Washington DC in January 2019 to work as an intern at the Cato Institute. Prior to that, she was a chapter member of LOLA in Brasília in 2018 and later became a board member of LOLA Brazil in 2019. After gaining experience working with various organizations, she joined LOLA as the Director of Development in 2021. Currently, she serves as the regional leader in North America.
Jennifer Monroe – Email Marketing Specialist
Jennifer Monroe is a DC transplant who juggles working in the financial field, being LOLA’s email coordinator, a co-host to two podcasts, and an active commentator on social media. She joined the liberty movement during Ron Paul’s 2008 presidential campaign and has called it home ever since.
Anne Diaz – Regional Leader
Anne Dias is a lawyer and a pro-liberty activist who currently serves as the national president of LOLA Brazil. In addition to her legal work, she has extensive experience as a political advisor and has been involved in several successful advocacy campaigns. In the recent 2022 state representative elections in Paraná, located in the southern region of Brazil, Anne Dias ran as a candidate.
Rida Yumn Ahmed – Chapter Leader
Rida Yumn Ahmed is a 20-year-old university student from Delhi, India. She is a Prometheus Fellow with Students For Liberty and works with a libertarian organization to promote individual freedom. In 2023, she joined LOLA with the aim of encouraging women to embrace individualism.
Caitlin Peters – Chapter Member
Caitlin Peters is a libertarian feminist from Placentia, CA, with a B.A. and M.A. in Spanish. She works in translation and interpretation in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. Passionate about making campaign and government websites accessible in other languages, she joined the LOLA Los Angeles Chapter after connecting with them at Freedom Fest 2022 in Las Vegas.
Golbon Marandiz – Chapter Leader
Golbon, a cybersecurity student and community activist from Seattle, recently brought LOLA to Washington to fill a gap in the libertarian community. She advocates for free speech and free markets.
Monica Rosenberg – Chapter Leader
Monica is a 54-year-old lawyer who lives in Brazil. She is in charge of governance and compliance at the State of Sao Paulo Bar Association. In 2018, she joined LOLA upon the recommendation of a friend who was also a libertarian woman. Monica was looking for a cause that she could identify with and found it in LOLA.
Justyna Piątek-Pawłowska – Regional Leader
Justyna established the LOLA Poland chapter more than a year ago and subsequently expanded her responsibilities as the LOLA European Regional Leader. Throughout her career, Justyna has successfully planned and executed various liberty-focused events, such as the Liberty International World Conference 2021 in Medellín, Colombia and the upcoming 2022 conference in Tbilisi, Georgia. Additionally, she has organized a TEDx conference in Poland. In her free time, she enjoys singing, practicing karate, and indulging in her love for cats.
Stacy Gonzalez – Chapter Leader
Stacy Gonzalez is the leader of the Nicaragua chapter of LOLA. She became a member of the organization two years ago, driven by her admiration for a women-centric entity that promotes freedom. Stacy is half Nicaraguan and has personally experienced her country’s descent into authoritarianism. As a university student of Political Science, she excels in data analysis.
Martha Bueno – Chapter Member
Martha Bueno is a Cuban-American entrepreneur and freedom fighter who grew up witnessing the horrors of socialism and communism. She believes in free markets and liberty as the only solution to help mankind reach its full potential. Martha is the founder and CEO of Our Good Products, a company that manufactures hemp-based products for pain relief and relaxation. She is also a wife and mother of four children, three dogs, three cats, and a flock of backyard chickens.
Christina Neumann – Chapter Leader
Christina is a devoted mother of five, CFO of an international charity, and a respected leader in our community. Her extensive experience and dedication make her an invaluable asset to her constituents and the organizations she serves, including the city council, chamber of commerce, and nonprofit Friends of the Library. Christina’s commitment to social responsibility is evident in her work with disabled children, single parents, and street-involved youths in Tanzania. Despite her busy schedule, she also homeschools her children, reflecting her hands-on approach to education and family life.
Shannon Plunkett – Chapter Leader
Shannon is a conscious entrepreneur & certified health, well-being & business coach now located in Miami, Florida, with corporate work experience spanning across 3 continents. Shannon dedicates much of her time to mentoring women in business, mental health, addiction & the recovery space. She launched our South Florida Chapter in April 2023 & has been with LOLA ever since.
Patricia Abuya – Chapter Leader
Patricia is a member of the liberty movement in Kenya. She’s focused on public policy and property rights and is a founding member of the Ladies Of Liberty Alliance-Kenya. Abuya has organized successful events and managed social accounts. Her major achievement was organizing a documentary screening and discussion that attracted many young people and sparked new viewpoints on aid in Africa. Abuya is a data analyst and aspires to be a remote sensing and GIS specialist. She currently lives in Warsaw, Poland.
Angel Walker-Werth – Chapter Leader
Angel Walker-Werth is a fellow and programs manager at Objective Standard Institute and a writer and assistant editor at The Objective Standard. She writes and speaks on politics, philosophy, and fiction. Originally from Wisconsin, she now lives in Milton Keynes, and she has recently co-founded LOLA England.
Marianne March – Chapter Leader
Marianne March is the LOLA D.C. Chapter leader and Digital Marketing Strategist at the Institute for Justice. Marianne first joined LOLA Atlanta in 2017 before moving to Arlington, Virginia, in 2019. Marianne studied Public Policy Administration and Economics at Georgia State University. She is passionate about music, personal development, and justice.
Emma Giovanetti – Intern
Emma lives in Falls Church, VA, and is a junior at James Madison University, majoring in social work. Emma is passionate about human rights issues with a focus on the rights of children. She recently joined LOLA as an intern, introduced to it by her friend, Director of Development Izabela Patriota.
Stephanie Edmonds – Chapter Leader
Stephanie Edmonds is a former NYC Public High School History teacher who now advocates for children’s well-being. She homeschools her son in Stamford and creates social and political videos under the name Teaching Liberty. Stephanie is currently working on a documentary about the impact of school closures with the nonprofit Restore Childhood.
María Amaré – Chapter Leader
María Amaré is an Outreach Associate at FEE, currently living in Spokane, WA. She founded LOLA Venezuela and received the Leader of the Year award at the Students For Liberty Global Awards for promoting financial literacy and economic freedom through events that impacted over 5,000 people.
Kat Murti – Chapter Member
Kat Murti is a libertarian, feminist, and activist fighting for human liberty for almost 20 years. She is a co-founder of Feminists for Liberty and a co-leader of the Washington D.C. chapter of LOLA.
Victoria Lawhorn – Chapter Leader
Victoria, a native Californian, now an ‘Oklahomie’, is driven by her mission to lead with love: educate, encourage, and empower. With a degree in Business Administration and Accounting coupled with a penchant for leadership, her journey has seen her take on a variety of roles and titles through which she has pursued her mission. Her involvement in the liberty movement introduced her to LOLA and she began seeking support in 2022 to start the Oklahoma Chapter.
Michelle Bernier – Fundraiser
As a lawyer in Venezuela and Colombia, with a master’s degree in law and international business, Michelle has spent the past six years utilizing her expertise in law, technology, and business to bring about transformative change across different sectors. Her experience includes working with law firms, startups, companies, NGOs, and investors, which has enabled her to apply her knowledge in novel and innovative ways.
Mary Kelley – Chapter Leader
Mary is a Libertarian who lives and works in commercial medical property management in the Kansas City area. She co-owns Blue Nose Aerial Imaging of Overland Park with her husband, Ned Kelley, and another Libertarian, Matt Clark. In 2017, she became a co-leader of LOLA alongside Alicia Dworek, who has since departed the Kansas City chapter after relocating to California. Mary takes pleasure in setting up a space for other ladies of liberty to connect and establish relationships, as well as to learn how we can achieve freedom in our lifetimes.
