Chapter Updates – June 2025

This June, LOLA hosted 34 inspiring events across 10 countries, showing once again that liberty has no borders when women lead the way. 🌎✨

From intimate coffee chats to dynamic panels on individual rights, economic freedom, and women’s leadership, our chapters created spaces for spread the ideas of liberty.

Here’s a glimpse into some of the incredible moments from June:

LOLA Goiás, Brazil

Book Club: Exploring Freedom of Expression

The LOLA Goiás Chapter hosted a thought-provoking book club session to explore the boundaries of freedom of expression through the lens of a selected text.

The goal was to reflect on the role of free speech in a free society and to question how far this right should extend. The discussion sparked deep insights into the balance between liberty and responsibility, encouraging participants to critically examine the principles that underpin a truly open society.

LOLA Peshawar, Pakistan

Freedom First: A Talk on Fundamental Human Rights

LOLA Peshawar, in collaboration with Students for Economic and Social Affairs (SESA), hosted an online event titled “Freedom First: A Talk on Fundamental Human Rights.”

The session focused on the rights guaranteed by Pakistan’s Constitution, the role of state institutions in protecting them, and how citizens can seek legal redress.

LOLA member Ayesha Gul introduced the discussion by explaining key libertarian principles. Guest speaker Muhammad Aslam outlined the practical challenges of enforcing human rights in Pakistan and stressed the need for civic awareness.

LOLA Iowa State University, IA

Denim Day

LOLA Iowa State University hosted a discussion on Denim Day, focusing on its origin and its impact on the rights of sexual assault survivors in the United States.

Participants explored how a 1998 Italian court case sparked global activism after a rape conviction was overturned because the victim wore tight jeans. The event highlighted how Denim Day has since become a symbol of solidarity and awareness, helping to challenge harmful myths and advocate for survivor rights in the U.S. legal system.

LOLA Yaounde, Cameroon

Breaking the stigma

As part of the Friendly Space 5.0 event, LOLA Yaoundé hosted a session titled “Breaking the Stigma: Together for a Period-Friendly World”, focused on menstrual health education and stigma reduction.

The 30-minute session, “Menstrual Abnormalities and PMS,” aimed to:

  • Raise awareness of common menstrual health issues like amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, and irregular cycles

  • Demystify Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS), including its symptoms and emotional impact

  • Promote healthy hygiene practices and challenge harmful myths

  • Encourage inclusive conversations involving both girls and boys

Participants engaged in open dialogue, learned about proper use and disposal of menstrual products, and explored ways to support young people (especially girls) from all backgrounds in managing their menstrual health with dignity.

LOLA Mar Del Plata, Argentina

Liberty Tea Party

LOLA Mar del Plata hosted a Liberty Tea Party to introduce the ideas of freedom to women from diverse backgrounds and welcome new members to the community. The event created a relaxed and inclusive space for open conversation, with a key takeaway being the proposal to hold regular gatherings to strengthen connections among LOLAs and foster deeper engagement with the liberty movement.

LOLA Rio de Janeiro

Rejane Gambin: the Vice Mayor who brought freedom to power

LOLA Rio de Janeiro hosted a special talk with Rejane Gambin, the city’s first female Vice Mayor of Joinville, SC and a proud member of LOLA. The event aimed to inspire local LOLAs by connecting them with a woman actively making an impact in public office.

Rejane shared her personal journey from professional life to politics, including her experiences stepping in as acting mayor and earning respect in a male-dominated space. She also addressed the unique challenges women face in political roles, offering valuable insight and encouragement for future leaders.

LOLA Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil

Café com Propósito Presencial – Coffee with Purpose

LOLA Joinville hosted “Coffee with Purpose – Women in Politics and Health,” a dynamic in-person event designed to empower women through connection, leadership, and civic engagement.

The event created an inclusive space for women to discuss their roles in public service and health advocacy, featuring speakers from different cities who shared real-world experiences and insights. A kids’ space ensured accessibility for mothers, reinforcing LOLA’s commitment to removing barriers to participation.

LOLA Kandy, Sri Lanka

Chapter Orientation Programme

LOLA Kandy held its first orientation event to welcome new members and introduce them to the values and mission of the organization. The session focused on the core principles of liberty, individual rights, civic engagement, and equal opportunity.

Participants gained a clear understanding of what LOLA stands for and explored the many ways they can get involved through its global network. The event encouraged critical thinking and empowered members to become active voices for freedom in their community.

Liberty Lounge

LOLA London hosted its first-ever “Liberty Lounge” to kickstart a local network of women interested in the ideas of liberty. The discussion focused on freedom of expression, cancel culture, and key concepts of economic freedom. The event served as an open and welcoming space to connect, exchange ideas, and begin building a strong LOLA presence in the UK.

Galt’s Gulch Conference

LOLA participated in the third annual Galt’s Gulch Conference hosted by The Atlas Society, using the opportunity to connect with attendees, table for LOLA, and recruit new leaders and members to our global community.

This Ayn Rand–inspired event centered on the principles of self-interest, individualism, and Objectivist philosophy. Attendees engaged in dynamic discussions, educational seminars, and networking focused on reason and personal achievement.

One highlight was the talk by Hannah Cox, “Nobody Wants to be the Mommy: Individualism, Gender Roles, and the Decline of Parenthood,” which explored shifting family dynamics and the cultural implications of proposed policies like Trump’s Baby Bonus.

LOLA Central Florida, FL

Libertarian Party of Florida 2025 Convention

LOLA hosted a booth at the Libertarian Party of Florida 2025 Convention, engaging attendees in discussions on key liberty issues such as marijuana decriminalization, economic freedom, and the role of women in advancing libertarian principles.

The event provided a valuable space to connect with new allies, share LOLA’s mission, and expand our presence across Florida.

Mother’s Day Roundtable

To mark Mother’s Day, LOLA regional team made a thought-provoking roundtable exploring the intersection of motherhood, policy, and liberty.

Engaged in a wide-ranging discussion on topics such as Trump’s proposed $5,000 baby stipend, adoption, child-free lifestyles, fertility treatment coverage, and the cultural and economic factors influencing family planning decisions.

From government incentives to personal choice, the conversation encouraged honest reflections on what truly empowers women to make decisions about parenthood in today’s world.

LOLA Austin, TX

LOLA Brunch during Galt’s Gulch

While Galt’s Gulch by The Atlas Society brought liberty-minded thinkers to Austin, LOLA hosted a casual brunch to connect with local women in the movement.

As a new chapter in the city, the goal was to create a low-barrier event to build community and attract women interested in libertarian ideas. The brunch offered a relaxed space for meaningful conversations in small groups.

Many attendees were new to LOLA and left with new friendships and plans to attend future events. It was an exciting start for LOLA Austin.

LOLA Introduction Meeting

LOLA Bauru organized a gathering to present the organization and welcome a woman interested in joining. She runs a local NGO and was enthusiastic about the opportunity to connect.

The conversation focused on feminism, the role of liberal ideas in promoting women’s empowerment and financial independence, and the social vulnerability faced by women in Itapetininga. The group also discussed the importance of building support and care networks for women. After the meeting, she happily accepted the invitation to join LOLA.

Online Workshop: “Liberalism, Conservatism, and Traditionalism”

LOLA Brazil hosted an online workshop with Lucas Berlanza, who delivered an engaging session on the connections between liberalism, conservatism, and traditionalism. He explained how each ideology relates to core principles of liberty and warned about the risks posed by movements that reject individual freedom. The event offered valuable insights for participants seeking to understand ideological differences within the broader liberty movement.

Clube do Livro e Vinho (Books and Wine Club)

This book club gathering aimed to attract more women by discussing a romance novel centered on female protagonism. The group read A Carteira by Francesca Giannone, inspired by the author’s grandmother and based on the story of the first mailwoman in a small Italian town. The conversation focused on the challenges faced by the protagonist and how her story resonates with women today. Participants shared their personal reflections, fostering a warm and meaningful exchange about resilience, identity, and everyday courage.

The Power of Choice: Exploring Individual Liberty in the 21st Century

This event gathered 32 young girls to discuss how cultural norms and societal pressures limit their freedom in education, careers, and self-expression. They explored barriers like restricted mobility and lack of decision-making roles.

Participants also addressed digital risks such as surveillance and censorship, highlighting the need for digital literacy and privacy.

The discussion emphasized balancing freedom with responsibility and using legal tools to claim rights.

Interactive sessions helped define liberty as the freedom to choose and uplift others. The event ended with many pledging to mentor peers and promote liberty in their communities.

LOLA Meeting: Mother’s Day Special

The discussion focused on the bonds that strengthen women, motherhood, sisterhood, and the roles women play as professionals and mothers in society. It emphasized the importance of women occupying all spaces of power.

The event also highlighted the lack of public policies addressing women’s health, including mental and physical well-being. It noted how women are often seen only as homemakers rather than as professionals with dreams and ambitions to reposition themselves.

Major event with Argentinian President Javier Milei

LOLA Israel representatives attended an important event featuring Argentine President Javier Milei. They participated as part of the gathering, strengthening ties with the liberal community and supportive politicians.

Recruiting new member

Two LOLA chapter leaders met in person to plan upcoming events and welcomed a new member to the team. The discussion focused on event ideas for the next three months and strategies for expanding the chapter. The new member was introduced to LOLA’s mission and opportunities to get involved.

Wine & Cheese Liberty Party

LOLA Mar del Plata hosted a Wine & Cheese event to promote liberty and welcome new members to the international Ladies of Liberty Alliance network.

The event created a relaxed and inviting space where women passionate about freedom could connect, share experiences, and build community. Participants engaged in thoughtful discussions about women’s leadership roles and the unique challenges faced when presenting pro-liberty ideas in university settings.

LOLA Mar del Plata was present with a stand at the event to engage attendees and share our mission. The goal was to spread ideas of liberty and welcome new women to the LOLA network.

LOLA Peshawar, Pakistan

Liberty of Celebration in Pakistan

LOLA Peshawar, in collaboration with Students for Economic and Social Affairs (SESA), hosted a group discussion titled “Freedom to Celebrate Festivals in Pakistan.” Muhammad Sulaiman, President of National Influencers, gave a keynote on the freedoms and restrictions surrounding festivals in the country.

The event included an open forum where students and faculty from universities such as University of Peshawar, University of Swabi, Sarhad University, Abasyn University, Iqra University, and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University shared diverse perspectives on cultural and religious freedoms.

Working Group: Freedom for All

This project aimed to equip women with the knowledge and tools to create an accessible presentation on individual freedom, economic freedom, and core liberal principles, linking theory to everyday life.

The working group met virtually five times over two months, with each 90-minute session fostering collaboration. An open call for applicants was launched on April 7 through LOLA Rio’s social media and groups, prioritizing diverse backgrounds and strong motivation.

Selected participants from Rio de Janeiro, Niterói, and Nova Friburgo joined a WhatsApp group, received educational materials, and actively co-created the final presentation.

LOLA Kathmandu, Nepal

Panel Discussion: Democracy and Monarchy — Learning the Pros and Cons of Both

In response to rising political tensions and misinformation around the monarchy in Nepal, LOLA Kathmandu co-hosted a panel discussion at Nepal Law Campus with Students For Liberty Nepal-Bhutan.

The event brought together 150+ students and featured both pro-monarchy and pro-democracy voices. The panel explored civic responsibility, youth engagement, and the role of women in democracy.

LOLA’s Asia Regional Director Ichchha Khatiwada and SFL’s Prasidika Dhungana opened the event, emphasizing the need for open dialogue. Participants praised the discussion for offering clarity, balance, and a platform for informed debate.

Café e Liberdade

This casual coffee meetup was a space to introduce LOLA’s mission and connect with other women passionate about building a freer society. All attendees were mothers, and the conversation naturally turned to how government policies often interfere with our freedom to raise our children and shape our lives. We reflected on our personal stories and celebrated our strength and resilience as women. It was a heartfelt and energizing gathering, and everyone left excited for the next one!

LOLA Mutare Chapter Launch

The launch of LOLA Mutare officially introduced our network to local women, creating a welcoming space to explore the ideas of liberty, personal responsibility, and voluntary cooperation. The event focused on empowering women to lead, connect, and advocate for freedom in their lives and communities. It also outlined the chapter’s mission, vision, and future plans—laying a strong foundation for sisterhood, collaboration, and growth in the region.

Time is Yours: How to Take Control of Your Schedule and Your Life

This event was created to help women better manage their time while balancing family, work, political engagement, and personal relationships. While the focus was on time management, the discussion naturally expanded to address the everyday machismo women face—especially when stepping into roles traditionally seen as “masculine.” The space became one of mutual support, where women shared strategies not just for managing schedules, but for navigating bias and claiming their time with confidence.

This gathering focused on how essential oils can support women experiencing pre-menopause and menopause. Participants explored how hormonal changes affect daily life and how natural remedies like essential oils can bring physical and emotional relief during this transitional phase.

Wichita Pride Festival

LOLA Wichita had a strong presence at the city’s Pride Festival, with a high-visibility booth that stood out and drew in dozens of women. The vibrant setup helped us connect with the community and share LOLA’s mission. The chapter welcomed 31 new members, and even gained a new chapter leader.

LOLA Córdoba hosted a casual gathering to catch up on recent international political developments. The goal was to create a space for women to stay informed, analyze global trends, and discuss how current events impact liberty around the world. The conversation encouraged critical thinking and helped participants connect broader political dynamics with their local realities.

This special event was born from the curiosity of new members who requested a space to explore the fundamentals of liberalism. Discussed key concepts like individualism, collectivism, and personal freedom—touching on complex topics such as abortion and drug policy.

One powerful moment came when a participant shared that she had once identified as a socialist, but after engaging in the conversation, she felt inspired to rethink her views. Events like this show how dialogue and open minds can lead to meaningful transformation.
