LOLA Lima, Peru hosted the second edition of their reading clube“Reading is Freedom” provided an open space for participants to explore liberalism through the book Doblemente Libres by Roxana Nicula. Over four Saturdays, attendees discussed the book’s chapters, culminating in a face-to-face event with the author via Meet, where they shared their insights and reflections. The discussions emphasized how many regional ministries fail to meet their primary goals, such as reducing violence against women, and explored how private solutions could offer better alternatives. Roxana Nicula highlighted key components of a liberal state concerning women’s issues, fostering a rich dialogue on the book’s themes.

Using Dubai as a successful example, the presentation highlighted the benefits of policy experimentation, risk mitigation, and voluntary participation. Attendees explored political challenges, such as those faced in Honduras, and the integration of technology and cryptocurrency, including Bitcoin. Misconceptions, such as fears of imposed systems, were addressed alongside the importance of community building and economic foundations. The session also reviewed the rapid growth of the Free Cities movement, which now encompasses 23 projects, and discussed immigration policy developments and the model’s applicability in regions like Israel, underscoring its potential to address governance challenges globally.
