Book Club: The Candlemakers’ Petition
During this session, participants analyzed the satirical work The Candlemakers’ Petition by Frédéric Bastiat, highlighting its critique of protectionism and policies that aim to “protect” certain economic sectors at the expense of freedom and general well-being.
The discussion explored how Bastiat’s ideas remain relevant today, showing that protectionism benefits a few, limits competition, and stifles innovation. Participants also reflected on economic freedom as a tool for empowerment—especially for women—and its importance within the Latin American context.
The conversation concluded with reflections on how liberals should approach social issues such as the right to education, emphasizing solutions rooted in freedom of choice, private initiative, and civil society participation.

Launching of the Dinajpur Chapter
LOLA officially launched its Dinajpur Chapter with an introductory event presenting the organization’s mission and global activities.
Fifteen participants joined to learn about LOLA’s work, take part in team-building activities, and discuss the challenges of promoting liberal values for women in their community.
The event successfully raised awareness of LOLA’s mission and set the foundation for future recruitment and chapter growth in Dinajpur.

Focus group discussion: “The principles of limited government and their impact on democracy”
LOLA Peshawar hosted a focus group discussion exploring the principles of limited government and their impact on democracy, with 13 women actively participating. The conversation revealed that while most participants understood limited government as a system where power is constrained by law to prevent abuse, their depth of knowledge varied. Some demonstrated strong awareness of concepts like separation of powers and checks and balances, while others sought further clarification.
Participants agreed that limited government is essential to protecting individual rights and preventing authoritarianism. They also shared real-world examples where weakening these principles led to threats against freedom and democracy. The discussion emphasized the importance of civic engagement—especially by women—in preserving democratic values and maintaining institutional accountability.

LOLA Kraków hosted a Pub Quiz to engage participants with ideas of liberty through a fun and educational format. The quiz covered key moments in freedom’s history, from the Magna Carta and American Revolution to the fall of the Berlin Wall and Haiti’s fight for independence. Discussions explored economic and political concepts, including the Austrian School of Economics, public spending, and left- vs. right-wing policies in Poland. A special category highlighted women’s rights and female libertarian leaders, including LOLA’s María Oropeza. Participants reflected on thinkers such as Locke, Thoreau, Seneca, and Ayn Rand, examining how freedom and personal responsibility appear in literature and film. The event combined learning and entertainment to promote discussion on individual liberty, limited government, and personal autonomy.
