This March, we celebrated Women’s History Month. At LOLA, our campaign centered on a straightforward idea: free markets give women choices, and choices build power.

That idea sits at the core of what LOLA does. We believe economic freedom is one of the most practical tools women have to define their own paths, build financial independence, and participate fully in civic and professional life. Expanding access to free markets is not a side goal for us; it is central to our mission.

Across 6 regions, our chapters hosted over 50 events throughout the month. Together, we explored free markets, entrepreneurship, and the strength of our own community.

Read on to see all the events we hosted.

Latin America

Our Latin American team was busy this month and hosted over 15 events.

Chapters across the region organized gatherings centered on economic freedom, entrepreneurship, and community. Events ranged from discussions on free markets and Austrian economics, to a cryptocurrency workshop, to film screenings and networking nights. Several events reflected on what individual liberty means for women living under restrictive conditions, honoring figures who have fought for freedom across the region. Through all of it, the goal was the same: connect women, spark meaningful conversations, and bring the Free Markets, Free Women campaign to life at the local level.

Brazil

Brazil organized 19 events this month, with chapters across the country finding creative and varied ways to mark Women’s History Month.

Several events focused on economic freedom and entrepreneurship, connecting women with tools and networks for financial independence. Chapters also explored identity and confidence through beauty workshops, professional photo experiences, and conversations about self-image and personal branding. A shooting sports workshop tied discipline and personal responsibility to individual autonomy, and a joint event between the Bauru and Macapa chapters brought members together around self-care as a foundation for leadership.

Others engaged more directly with history, politics, and community. Discussions covered women who shaped society without ever gaining public recognition, and what freedom of choice looks like when social pressure is part of the equation. Chapters also reflected on the current political climate in Brazil and the importance of civic participation. On the ground, members marched against femicide alongside local authorities, organized a blood drive, and gathered for a relaxed game night that opened into a conversation about growing restrictions on free speech.

Europe

Our team in Europe is back on track, fostering our Women’s History Month theme and organizing 7 events, with our team from Belgrade leading the way with three events this month.

Events spanned a wide range of formats and topics. A film screening in Turkey introduced the connection between free markets and women’s economic independence without relying on a heavy academic framing, making the ideas accessible to an audience that rarely encounters that perspective. In Serbia, chapters organized a game night centered on economic freedom, a philosophy discussion on human nature and the importance of resisting manipulation, and a LOLA introduction event to welcome new members and explain what the organization does. A panel in another chapter brought in an Iranian speaker to share a firsthand account of the situation in the country, opening a conversation about liberty and rights under authoritarian conditions.

Chapters also took to the streets, with members participating in an International Women’s Day protest. Across all seven events, the through line was the same: creating spaces where women could engage with ideas about freedom, whether through debate, film, conversation, or civic action.

North America

In North America, we had four events this month.

Two chapters held their annual meetings to conduct party business and align on the year ahead. A third hosted a practical workshop on how to pitch yourself, covering resumes, interviews, and personal narrative, with the goal of giving leaders tools they could use and pass on to their own members. The month closed with an International Women’s Day celebration that brought together military spouses to discuss libertarian ideas and highlight the entrepreneurial work each attendee was doing.

Africa

In Africa, we had four events this month.

Chapters focused on building the practical and personal foundations that economic freedom requires. One event walked women through what it means to actively own economic decisions, moving beyond passive participation toward real agency and control over their financial lives. Another centered on confidence, initiative, and resilience, encouraging women to speak up and represent themselves in spaces where they are often outnumbered. A vision board workshop brought those ideas to a more personal level, connecting self-respect, property ownership, and accountability to a liberty-minded way of thinking. The month also marked a milestone for the organization, with the official launch of a new LOLA chapter at the University of Malawi’s Zomba campus.

  • LOLA Africa – Economic Freedom and Women Empowerment Training
  • LOLA Windhoek, Namibia – Thriving in Male-Dominated Fields: Owning the Room
  • LOLA Lilongwe, Malawi – Femlibre Sphere Project
  • LOLA Yaoundé, Cameroon – LOLA Vision Board Picnic

Asia

In Asia, our Nepali chapters worked hard this month.

One event brought women together to celebrate their achievements and reflect on what freedom, independence, and leadership look like in practice. The conversation centered on cultural expectations and how challenging them connects to personal autonomy and real empowerment. The other took a more practical angle, walking participants through women’s rights, relevant laws, and international legal frameworks around gender equality, with a focus on making that information clear and accessible to everyone in the room.
