Chapter Program Updates – August

IMG 8823
04 Sep

August brought a lot to celebrate, most notably two retreats in regions we had never held one in before: Asia and Africa. Both exceeded our expectations, and they’ve opened our eyes to what’s possible as LOLA continues to grow into new corners of the world. Thank you to everyone who made these two experiences happen.

Our other regions stayed just as active. Together we ran more than 40 events across the world in August, ranging from small, intimate gatherings to career development workshops.

Read on to see what we were up to.

Brazil, as always, was the most active region, with more than 10 events across different cities. Conversations ranged from women’s financial and professional independence to personal responsibility, leadership, and the connection between individual freedom and free markets.

LOLA Latin America continued to impress, with events spanning entrepreneurship as a path to economic freedom, community-building among women entrepreneurs in Mexico, and the launch of LOLA Guatemala’s Open Books Society, which used Orwell’s 1984 to explore freedom and the impact of power over information. New ideas for online sessions were also discussed, pointing to more ways for women across the region to stay connected.

      • LOLA Latin America – From Idea to Action
      • LOLA Guanajuato, Mexico – Oasis of Connections
      • LOLA Cordoba, Argentina – Mid-Year Gathering
      • LOLA Guatemala, Guatemala – Open Books Society Book Club

      North America

North American chapters had fun with a mix of old chapters and first timers. Events ranged from social gatherings for liberty women to connect, to the official launch of a new local chapter, to Montreal’s chapter launch, which doubled as a celebration of LOLA’s 17th anniversary.

        • LOLA Austin, TX – LOLA Summer Brunch Series
        • LOLA Vancouver, Canada – LOLA Chapter Launch
        • LOLA Montreal, Canada – LOLA Montreal Chapter Launch Picnic

        Africa

        Africa (1)
        Africa

Africa kicked off August with its first-ever retreat held in the region, but the momentum didn’t stop there. Chapters still found time to gather, teaching the importance of capitalism and wealth creation for women and young girls, and sharing lessons from the Accra retreat to keep fellow Lolas motivated to advocate for freedom every day.

        • LOLA Yaounde, Cameroon – I Have a Capitalist Mindset
        • LOLA Livingstone, Zambia – LOLA Africa Retreat Takeaways

        Asia

Asia was the second region to hold its first-ever retreat this year, bringing the LOLA community together in Kathmandu, Nepal. The region also made its mark at Liberty International’s conference, where several LOLA speakers took the stage, and the Nepali team still found time for an event of their own back home.

        • LOLA Itahari, Nepal – Threads of Love with Voice of Children
        Asia

        Europe

        Europe (1)
        Europe

Europe had a busy month, with two first-time chapter events and a reunion of the German team. Banja Luka kicked off its new chapter by introducing LOLA to potential members, while Germany’s gathering reconnected members old and new over the LOLA card game, blending community-building with lessons on markets and free-market principles.

        • LOLA Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina – Banja Luka Chapter Kickoff
        • LOLA Belgrade, Serbia; LOLA Vršac, Serbia – LOLA Reunion
