Chapter Program Updates – August 2025

Our Yaoundé chapter led a powerful campaign in Limbe municipality to raise awareness and prevent rape, reaching over 6,000 women. The initiative focused on educating communities in churches, schools, and markets about their rights, encouraging survivors to speak out, and ensuring abusers face justice. Participants also received menstrual hygiene kits, and women who embraced the mission were recognized for their commitment.

LOLA members gathered at the Liberty Camp hosted by the Language of Liberty Institute to strengthen their understanding of liberty. The LOLA workshop Freedom Without Permission emphasized individual liberty as a natural right, drawing on the ideas of Mises, Rothbard, Hayek, and Rand. Participants reflected on how to live freely without waiting for external approval and left empowered to act on their vision of freedom.

LOLA Peru participated in Liberty Camp Perú, hosted by The Language of Liberty Institute, providing participants with an immersive introduction to the history of classical liberal thought through the Founding Fathers. The session included a presentation on liberal feminism, highlighting its core principles, as well as an overview of LOLA as an international organization promoting liberty and women’s leadership.

Natal chapter launched its book club with a discussion that set the stage for future readings. Participants selected Against All Censorship by Gustavo Maultasch as their first book and also reflected on current events in Brazil, including U.S. sanctions and the application of the Magnitsky Act.

Austin chapter hosted a lively social gathering with a picnic and a live performance of Bring It On: The Musical. The event created a fun space for connection while encouraging new members to join and engage with the chapter.

Windhoek chapter hosted a discussion on women in leadership and politics, bringing together twelve women to explore strategies for increasing female political participation. The conversation highlighted barriers to empowerment, inspiring case studies such as Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Sahle-Work Zewde, and practical approaches like mentorship, leadership training, and challenging stereotypes.

Poços de Caldas chapter hosted a Winter Clothing Drive, organizing a community festival with traditional foods while collecting women’s clothing for a local shelter. To encourage participation, attendees received book vouchers and also joined a discussion of Imperfeitos and how liberal ideas support LGBT freedom. The event combined celebration, solidarity, and the principles of liberty to serve those most in need.

Lucknow chapter hosted a Liberty Workshop introducing core principles of individual freedom, limited government, and personal responsibility. Participants explored how free markets, voluntary exchange, and freedom of expression foster prosperity and open dialogue, leaving with practical insights on applying liberty principles in their daily lives.

LOLA Europe hosted a workshop to help participants build confidence in using social media to share ideas. Led by Jagna and Tea, the session offered practical tips on content creation, algorithms, and strategy to expand digital impact.

Jujuy chapter hosted a session on Argentina’s new single-paper ballot voting system, exploring its impact on civic participation. Participants engaged with both the theoretical and practical aspects of the system while reflecting on how transparent elections and informed voting strengthen individual liberty.

Kathmandu chapter hosted a discussion on women, work, and economic freedom. The event empowered participants with knowledge of their economic rights, the importance of financial independence, and opportunities in entrepreneurship. Together, they examined cultural and legal barriers to women’s participation in the workforce, shared inspiring stories from women leaders, and built a strong network committed to advancing economic freedom and gender equality.

Itahari chapter hosted a Breastfeeding Awareness Program to educate mothers on the benefits of breastfeeding, proper techniques, and common challenges. The event provided a supportive space for discussion, empowering participants with accurate information and promoting informed decision-making and personal choice for the health and well-being of their children.

LOLA Dhaka hosted a LOLA Social in Prague in collaboration with LOLA Poland. Participants explored how state power can threaten individual liberty, featuring a firsthand account from LOLA member Andrea on the human rights situation in Venezuela. Professors from TFAS Prague joined the discussion, enriching the dialogue and fostering connections across chapters.

LOLA Kandy hosted an event focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Participants learned about key concepts, engaged in meaningful discussions, and shared personal experiences, fostering a supportive environment for informed decision-making and empowerment.

LOLA Buenos Aires hosted a working session to plan the upcoming training activities at Universidad del CEMA. Participants reviewed program details, coordinated expert speakers, and prepared for the upcoming sessions, ensuring a high-impact learning experience for all attendees.

LOLA Dhaka hosted the Voices of Liberty Conference in collaboration with Students For Liberty Bangladesh. The event provided students with insights into liberalism, democracy, human rights, and economic freedom, while analyzing the country’s socio-political context. Participants gained tools to advocate for reforms, advance women’s participation, and foster youth entrepreneurship, building networks and skills to promote transparency, accountability, and liberty.

LOLA Amazonas hosted Café with LOLAs, a discussion-based event where participants explored free markets, career opportunities, and professional development. The session fostered learning, networking, and empowerment within the local LOLA community.

LOLA Tel Aviv hosted a Summer Social Brunch, bringing members together for a relaxed gathering. Attendees connected personally, met each other’s children, and discussed goals and plans for the upcoming year.

LOLA Calgary hosted Gal’s Summer Picnic, a relaxed outdoor gathering designed to raise awareness about LOLA. Twelve participants registered, with four attending and three walk-ins joining the event.

LOLA Goias hosted an event focused on the role of women in global governance and international public policy. Participants explored existing policies supporting women and discussed strategies to advance female participation in governance and international decision-making.

Our chapter in Colombo hosted a comprehensive workshop on Sri Lanka’s Online Safety Act, designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to navigate digital spaces safely. The session covered the Act’s objectives, scope, and legal framework, emphasizing the rights and responsibilities of content creators, journalists, students, and activists online.

Rio de Janeiro chapter hosted a special “Lolas at the Table” dinner with Rafaela Rezende, president of VTEX in Brazil, who shared her inspiring personal and professional journey. She spoke candidly about the challenges of balancing motherhood and career, the sacrifices she made to reach her goals, and how she overcame external judgments along the way.

Rafaela also reflected on the importance of self-awareness, intentional choices, and building a strong reputation, while encouraging participants to embrace courage and dream big. Her story highlighted that true leadership is not only about achievements but also about humanity, consistency, and a clear vision for the future.

Lima chapter hosted the third edition of their Reading is Freedom club, where participants explored the shift many people experience from socialism to liberalism, with a special focus on Hayek’s influence and ideas.

London chapter hosted a Sip & Speak discussion where attendees shared experiences of working in Westminster as women, the unique challenges of navigating British politics, and reflections on the Conservative Party’s shift away from core liberty principles. The conversation closed with what participants want to see from future political leaders.

Islamabad chapter hosted a discussion on the essential role women play in protecting democratic values and civil liberties. Participants explored how women’s leadership strengthens justice, human rights, and accountable governance, while also addressing the systemic barriers that continue to limit their participation.

Haripur chapter celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day by highlighting women’s constitutional rights through a libertarian lens. During the gathering, participans emphasized individual liberty, justice, and protection from coercion, while introducing key platforms for reporting abuses. The session empowered participants to claim their freedoms and defend their dignity.

Rio de Janeiro chapter marked one year since the unjust imprisonment of María Oropeza, a LOLA leader in Venezuela. The event denounced authoritarian abuses, highlighted testimonies of political persecution, and reaffirmed our commitment to liberty, justice, and solidarity in the fight for María’s freedom.

Abbottabad chapter hosted its first in-person gathering, introducing new participants to LOLA and sparking thoughtful dialogue on libertarianism. Many realized they were already living by its principles: individual liberty, personal responsibility, and women’s independence. The session was interactive, inspiring, and left participants more connected to LOLA and the global liberty movement.

Wichita chapter hosted a Tea Party where participants explored themes of bodily autonomy, non-interventionism, and the role of public funding in the arts. The discussion also reflected on the history of tea parties and their connection to the women’s suffrage movement, linking past struggles for freedom with today’s fight for individual liberty.

Peshawar chapter hosted a thought-provoking session led by Saba Khan, who presented her thesis on feminism through a libertarian lens. The discussion highlighted how principles of autonomy, consent, and self-ownership strengthen women’s empowerment, guiding both social practices and policy frameworks that respect individual rights. Participants agreed that true empowerment comes from the freedom to make authentic choices without external interference.

Livingstone chapter hosted a She Voice Series graduation, where speakers shared their journeys to excellence, the challenges they overcame, and the importance of personal branding in character, presentation, and openness to opportunity. Participants learned about LOLA’s global mission, with 10 new women joining the chapter to take part in future activities. The event closed with a performance of Azimai (Women), a powerful song promoting unity and the transformative impact of women supporting one another.

Rio de Janeiro chapter gathered for a unique “Footvolley & Philosophy” event, where participants reflected on the importance of physical exercise for both present and future well-being. Afterwards, Regional Leader, Letícia Barros connected objectivist philosophy with healthy habits and daily choices in an outdoor talk. The dynamic format attracted younger women, fostered genuine connections, and strengthened the chapter’s sense of community and freedom.

Recife chapter reflected on the fragility of liberty through the story of María Oropeza, a LOLA leader imprisoned in Venezuela for opposing the regime. Participants compared global contexts of freedom, recognizing that while some countries offer broad opportunities, others criminalize even basic gatherings. The discussion underscored the need to remain vigilant in defending individual liberty, free markets, limited government, and women’s empowerment.

LOLA Europe chapter hosted a session on planning successful and impactful events. Participants learned strategies for identifying target audiences, organizing logistics, and ensuring their events advance LOLA’s mission and libertarian principles.

The goal of this regional LOLA Brazil event was to teach LOLA leaders and members the essential skills for clear, effective communication and public speaking. Participants received practical guidance on crafting messages with clarity and confidence, as well as tips for presenting themselves effectively in front of audiences.

The workshop emphasized that strong communication requires practice and that personal image also contributes to how messages are received. Attendees left with tools to speak confidently and persuasively, both in public settings and in their professional and personal lives.

LOLA leaders connected with potential chapter leaders and explored partnership opportunities with other organizations. Iza represented LOLA in discussions with donors, while several organizations expressed interest in collaborating with LOLA. The event offered an excellent opportunity to expand the network, build relationships, and strengthen LOLA’s presence in the U.S.

Natal chapter hosted a special lecture on public speaking and argumentation for women, focusing on strengthening communication skills and confidence. Participants learned practical techniques for effective oratory, persuasive argumentation, and key rules of the Portuguese language to improve clarity and impact.

The session was a great success—interactive, empowering, and deeply appreciated by all members. It gave our LOLAs valuable tools to express themselves with confidence in both personal and professional spaces.
