Ladies of Liberty Alliance – Virginia Beach

Meet the incredible women spreading liberty in the Hampton Roads area!

About LOLA – Virginia Beach

The city of Virginia Beach is located at the southeast corner of Virginia. The city is the most populous in the state with a population of about 450,000. With the United States’ largest naval base in the neighboring city, Virginia Beach has a large military population. The city is also known for its beaches and welcomes over 10 million visitors a year. The Ladies of Liberty Alliance chapter in Virginia Beach was started by Hannah Wigginton and Savannah Lindquist with the goal of providing a place for women to come together in the male-dominated liberty movement. They like to hold a variety of different events and have visited a winery, hosted movie viewings and discussions, held wine and cheese nights and marched in support of gun rights in Virginia.

The Beginning
LOLA – Virginia Beach’s first event took place in June 2018, where ladies gathered at Mermaid Winery, a local winery near the Oceanfront to share their “How I found Liberty” stories. The meeting was a success and women gathered to learn more about LOLA and brainstorm ideas for future events.

LOLA Virginia Beach Events
The Virginia Beach Ladies of Liberty Alliance likes to have events that bring people from different backgrounds together. Event attendees range from high school students interested in the ideas to grandmothers that have been involved in libertarianism for years. Their favorite and most popular events are movie nights where they meet to watch a movie that ties into the ideas of liberty and individual rights. They’ve watched both documentaries and reenactments on issues including the women suffrage movement, eminent domain, as well as fictional movies like 1984. Since their first event last summer, LOLA Virginia Beach has grown to over 20 women!

What’s Next?

In the new year, LOLAs hope to continue growing their chapter and increasing the number of pro-liberty women in the area. Their next meeting is scheduled for the first Saturday in January and will include watching a documentary on gun control and a discussion on the topic. With the gun debate raging in Virginia, they are looking forward to a great discussion.
