In the month in which we celebrate International Women’s Day, the Ladies of Liberty Alliance Natal (LOLA Natal), a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting women, offered a special day of care and beauty for Venezuelan refugee women living in the capital of Rio Grande do Norte.
The event aimed to provide refugee women with a moment of relaxation and self-care, as well as promoting self-esteem and well-being. During the day, participants had access to a variety of beauty services, including haircuts and blow-drying, manicures and other aesthetic treatments.
“For the participants, this was a unique and meaningful experience, providing them not only with a physical transformation, but also a moment of acceptance and inclusion. Many of them shared stories of challenges faced in their home countries and during the migration process,” commented the president of LOLA Natal, Maria Eduarda Araújo Damásio Santos, 21 years old.
Maria Eduarda also emphasized that families come from Venezuela to Rio Grande do Norte seeking a better life due to the country’s difficult political, economic and social situation. “Venezuela is living in extreme poverty due to the socialist dictatorship, which has been going on for many years. And here in Brazil, as difficult as it is to live as a Venezuelan refugee, it is better than living in the conditions they lived in there,” she explained.
LOLA Natal is part of an international organization that seeks to bring more women closer to the ideals of economic, political and social liberalism, as well as to train and develop female leaders through projects carried out by state centers.
The team at Jane Nails and Hair salon expressed their gratitude for contributing to this noble cause. At the end of the day, the refugee women left the salon with smiles on their faces and hearts full of gratitude, reminding them that even in the midst of challenges, there is still room for beauty, hope and solidarity.
